who's bookend?

bookend is a London-based duo blending melancholic storytelling with playful beats and irresistible hooks. Friends for nearly a decade, Michelle (Brazil) and Masaaki (Japan) first collaborated when Michelle appeared on Masaaki’s solo project, Anchorsong. Their collaboration track “The Ocean” sparked the creation of bookend as a dedicated collaborative project.

 

Michelle, a songwriter and poet with a love for reading brings raw, introspective storytelling, while Masaaki, a highly skilled and methodical producer, crafts rich soundscapes that give their music its pulse. They balance melancholy with infectious grooves, often blending Portuguese and English lyrics to reflect the complexities of modern life.
